Tip: if the heading looks off, wave your phone in a slow figure-8 a couple of times to let it calibrate, and move away from metal objects / laptops.

How It Works

1

Grant sensor access

Tap "Enable Live Compass" above. On iPhone/iPad you'll get an extra prompt asking to allow motion & orientation access - just allow it.

2

Reads your device's sensor

247 Compass uses the standard orientation sensor built into your browser to read your phone's magnetometer - no app or plugin needed.

3

See your heading live

The dial rotates in real time to track true north, with your exact heading and direction shown below it.

FAQ

Is this compass accurate?

Accuracy depends on your device's built-in sensor. Keep it away from metal objects, magnets, and other electronics for the best reading, and calibrate with a slow figure-8 motion if the heading looks off.

Does it work on a desktop or laptop?

Most desktops and laptops don't have a magnetometer, so live tracking won't be available. The compass still displays properly, it just won't receive real heading data.

Do I need to install an app?

No. 247 Compass runs entirely in your browser - no download, no app store, nothing to install.

Does it use my location or store any data?

No. It only reads your device's orientation sensor to show direction - it never accesses your GPS location, and nothing is sent to a server or stored anywhere.

Why isn't it working on my iPhone?

iOS requires an extra permission prompt for motion and orientation access. Tap "Enable Live Compass" and allow access when Safari asks.
